THE THERAPIST BEHIND THE PRACTICE

I welcome you warmly to Windless Therapy! My name is Niketa, an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist and I am so happy to have you here. You may have stumbled across my therapy practice because you are feeling lost in yourself or life and want to get your spark back, you want to work through a specific issue or you simply want to deepen your self-awareness. Whatever your reason for seeking therapy is, I am so proud of you for taking the first step.
I started this practice so my clients can have a calm and secure space. I pride myself in creating an environment where you can disclose your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and are met with compassion and understanding in return, meaning that you get the support that you deserve.
My work with you will be underpinned by evidence based theories such as person-centred, attachment and cognitive behavioural therapy. Feel free to check below for more information about my approaches, my experience and my qualifications.
Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy
An integrative approach draws on different techniques from various approaches within therapy. This means that I tailor your therapy to you. I believe that no two clients are the same, so you can feel assured that your sessions will be suited to you and what you need.
My approaches consist of:
Person Centred
This is a client centred form of psychotherapy which empowers you to gain back control of your mental well-being. I believe that you have all the answers within you, but I will guide you and walk alongside you to help you to become aware of these. I will help to facilitate your healing via empathetic understanding, a sense of congruence and unconditional positive regard so you have confidence that your life experiences will not be met with any judgement and that you will be valued as you are.
Attachment
Within attachment therapy, we explore how your childhood experiences have affected you as an adult and how it affects your relationships. If you find yourself in unhealthy relationships, struggling to trust those around you or have difficulty forming deep and meaningful bonds with those around you, this can affect your self-esteem and confidence. Attachment therapy can help you work through these difficulties and help you gain a deeper sense of purpose within yourself.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT is a type of therapy which encourages and teaches you to challenge negative and irrational beliefs. In some cases, when we are distressed, we may not be thinking in a rational state. Within CBT, we focus on how our thoughts and feelings affect our behaviour. By challenging any dysfunctional thinking together, you can learn techniques to challenge these thoughts and feelings impacting your behaviour to help you to feel more fulfilled and gain a sense of control over your life.
I also use elements of Compassion focused therapy, mindfulness and acceptance and commitment therapy within my practice. I work from a trauma informed perspective.
